When we look to the future, we are keenly aware that the God we
worship today has been, is, and will continue to be our God through
all the changes of the ages.
Affirming the God of all generations and responding with faithfulness...
this is the central theme of our Christian Stewardship efforts.
Scripture guides us in our understanding of the God of the generations.
In the Old Testament, God creates a generation of people who
are to live by the covenant given by God."Know therefore
that the Lord, your God, is God, the faithful God who maintains
covenant loyalty with those who love [God] and keep [God's] commandments,
to a thousand generations." Deuteronomy 7:9]
As we look carefully around our Church, we become increasingly
aware that the faithfulness and generosity of previous generations
has contributed toward our worship opportunities today, our Christian
Education opportunities for children and adults, our mission
and outreach programs to those in need, and our caring and personal
ministry to one another. We are profoundly grateful for what
others have "passed on" to us today!
Now it is our turn. In gratitude, we are called
to be faithful Christian stewards of what we have received from
God by "passing it on" to our future generations.
