WORSHIP

WHOM DO WE WORSHIP?
We worship the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

WHY DO WE WORSHIP?
God created us out of love. In Jesus Christ we see that love clearly as He dies for us on the cross reconciling us to God. In response to this love, we worship and praise God daily and as we gather together each Sunday. We believe that "I (Jesus) am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

HOW DO WE WORSHIP?

THROUGH THE BASICS
We worship through Bible reading, preaching of the word, spoken and unspoken prayer, and music.

THROUGH THE PROCESS
TPC's worship service follows a Presbyterian order of worship. With this format as a guide, we pray corporately and praise God with singing hymns and choral anthems as we encounter the Triune God.

WITH THE APPLICATION
In worship, we hear the Bible message and are equipped and inspired to engage in telling and doing the Gospel in our everyday lives.

WHEN DO WE WORSHIP AT TPC?
Our weekly September-June schedule includes Sunday morning services in the Chapel at 8:30 a.m. and in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. (traditional music and liturgy).

Our weekly summer schedule includes Sunday morning services at 10:00 a.m. (traditional music and liturgy in the sanctuary).

TPC has regularly scheduled communion opportunities and many special services throughout the year.

WHY NOT COME AND JOIN US?
If you are looking for a church home or a place to praise the Lord, come and join us in worship soon and often. All are welcome!

About Our September-June Sunday Worship Schedule: 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.

From September through June, we have a relaxed worship service at 8:30 a.m. in the Agnus Dei Chapel. For those wishing to attend worship while their children attend Church School, we have our traditional Service for the Lord’s Day at 10:00 a.m.  Church school is held at 10:15 a.m. Adult education begins with Bible Study at 8:45 a.m. in the Conference Room, Plumbline at 9:15 a.m. in the Parlour, and "Fair Trade, Fair Talk", an open discussion of the day's news held in Thompson Hall at 9:15 a.m.

Fellowship hour - featuring donuts for everyone aged 2 through 102! - is held between the two worship services, between 9:15 and 10:00 a.m., as well as after the latter service at 11:00 a.m. in Thompson Hall. Coffee & tea are available at Thompson Hall throughout the morning!

Families are encouraged to attend the 10:00 a.m. service together. Including children regularly in the worship of the whole church is an important way to nurture children in the faith. Recognizing that the attention span of younger children may be limited, there is an opportunity for children under the age of 8 years old to exit the service after approximately the first 15 minutes for organized activities in the education wing. If children become really restless in the sanctuary, the Agnus Dei Chapel is configured to allow families with small children to see and hear the worship service.

TPC’s long tradition of excellence in corporate worship continues. The Adult Choir sings at the 10:00 Sunday service, and our fantastic Chancel Handbell Choir is scheduled regularly. The Cherub Choir and the Children's Choir also sing occasionally. Our liturgy of word and sacrament seeks to engage the heart, mind, and strength of each worshiper in acknowledging and responding to the presence of the triune God in the world and in our lives.

The Spirit is doing a new thing at Towson Presbyterian Church! We hope you will plan to be a part of it!
