Director of Youth Ministries

Jim Isphording

I have blue eyes, have dirty blonde hair, like long walks on the beach, and have a dog named Cooper.  My favorite sports are baseball then volleyball.  In addition to youth ministry, I coach volleyball at a club called Time Out.   For high school, I went to Towson High Class of 1999, then for college, went to High Point University for 2 years, (1999-2001) then Salisbury University (2001-2003) where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration Science with a concentration in Marketing and Management.  I have two sisters, Jackie (24) and Brittany (20).  Did I mention about long walks on the beach?  I am currently in a relationship with my girlfriend, Jaime.

I grew up in Ohio and La Plata in southern Maryland.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Towson University with a degree in Art History, where I met my husband, Greg.  We live in Towson with our two children, Ethan, age 7, and Ava, age 3.  I usually stay at home with my children, but I also work part-time as a docent at the Walter's Art Museum.  I became more involved in church after the Workcamp trip to Mississippi in 2006.  I loved the kids so much that she decided to become an advisor.  My interests include traveling, art, photography, and interior design. In my spare time, I garden, scrapbook, and volunteer at her childrens' schools. I have been a member at TPC since 2005.

I was baptized, confirmed, and married at Towson Presbyterian Church. I taught Sunday School here from 1982-1992 (Jim’s fault, haha.) In my TPC hiatus, I visited other churches, but returned to TPC in 2003.  In the past, I have worked as an Assistant Buyer at Hutzler’s Dept. Store and a Travel Agent for Valley Travel.  I now am the co-owner with my husband, Rick, of Calvert Associates Inc., which is a promotional products firm. I manage the office and handle the accounting.  I have raised three amazing kids, including Jim, our very own youth director, in addition to two dogs.  One thing I enjoyed was volunteering at their schools.  In fact the most rewarding and fun time was when I was in charge of the After Prom Party for Towson High School.  In my spare time, I both dance and play golf. My family is very active at TPC; My son, Jim, is the Director of Youth Ministries, my husband, Rick, is a deacon, and my brother, Jim Lyon, is another advisor.

I was born in Virginia and grew up in Charlottesville. I attended University of Virginia and worked for five years in banking in Richmond, Virginia. In 1986, my husband and I moved to Baltimore. I earned an MBA from Johns Hopkins University in 1991. I continued to work in the banking and real estate development fields until 2003 when I started working at McDonogh School in the Admissions department. I have two sons, ages 15 and 17, as well as a dog, a cat and a fish. I enjoy friends, fitness, travel, hiking and skiing. I spend much of my free time in Virginia visiting family and friends.
