TPC Excitedly Announces the Hiring of Rena Daly to a New Staff Position: Communications & Administrative Coordinator
Rena Daly has more than 20 years of experience as a marketing and communications professional representing diverse causes, municipalities and organizations. She was drawn to the position at Towson Presbyterian Church because of her lifelong commitment to social justice and community building.
In her recent role as Manager of Media Relations and Editorial Content for Catholic Charities of Baltimore (CC-MD), she implemented a proactive communications strategy that yielded increased press coverage and social media engagement. While at CC-MD she promoted Safe Streets, the nationally recognized violence intervention program in West Baltimore, immigration services at the Esperanza Center, job training, therapy and meal programs at Our Daily Bread, Sarah’s House, Anna’s House, Gallagher Services and St. Vincent’s Villa.
As Communications Director for New Yorkers for Parks (NY4P) in New York City, Rena overhauled its website and created a new logo as part of the group’s rebranding effort. She led NY4P’s PR campaign calling on elected officials to pledge equitable care of all city parks – particularly those in impoverished communities. That campaign gained the support of Mayor Bloomberg who hired gardeners for the worst performing parks in the City. Over the years, Rena has worked with leading non-profits, religious groups, elected officials and educational institutions including Pratt Institute, Kenyon College and a NYC community college.
After years of living in New York and Connecticut, Rena returned home to Maryland in 2017. She now lives in Towson with her husband, Sean and their two children, Peter and Teddy. She is active in helping to protect and enhance Towson’s vital green spaces and helped with the community effort to create Radebaugh Park in Knollwood. She is a graduate of The Catholic University of America and the youngest of eight children.
Interests and Hobbies: Rena is a certified yoga instructor and active gardener. She has volunteered for the Y and other organizations on service projects across the globe. She has traveled to more than 40 countries.
Interesting Tidbit: Growing up in Baltimore City, on Cedarcroft Road, Rena developed a love of Irish culture. On Friday nights, she along with friends and family would go Irish dancing at the Gandy Dancer, a row-house pub located downtown across from the B&O Railroad. Later, while in college, she interned for the Labor Party in the Irish Parliament, the Dail.

Communications & Administrative Coordinator
The Visioning Plan TPC approved at the onset of 2019 emphasizes the vast importance communication plays in the mission and ministries of the church. As a larger, diverse community of faith, TPC must effectively communicate with multiple generations who receive communication along different platforms. We also must communicate well with not only members of our church, but members of our community-at-large.
To improve the communication of our values, stories, and ministries, TPC has created a new staff position: Communications & Administrative Coordinator.
In addition to serving as the primary administrator of TPC’s membership database, this position will serve as the primary facilitator of TPC’s communications to both members and the greater community. This position will meet regularly with staff and the Communications Committee to explore our church’s “stories to tell” as well as upcoming events to promote. This position will then serve to create, curate, and distribute engaging communications along appropriate platforms aimed at both current membership and the community around us.
We are excited about the potential that resides in this position, and absolutely thrilled to have called Rowena Daly as TPC’s new Communications and Administrative Coordinator. Her breadth and depth of experience and skills, as well as her passions and team approach to communications will be a rich blessing to TPC.
