Joel grew up in Connecticut and will always call it home. Before making the move to Maryland to serve at TPC in 2014, he lived in Illinois and New Jersey. It was in New Jersey where he met a Jersey girl who would become his wife. They are the proud parents of a girl and boy.
After receiving a degree in TV & Video Production from Central Connecticut State University, he served in youth ministry for 10 years before sensing a call to ordained ministry in the PC(USA). After graduating from Princeton Theological Seminary (and before moving to Towson) he served as a Resident Chaplain at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Interests & Hobbies – Growing up in Connecticut one had to choose between New York and Boston sports. Don’t worry, Joel’s not a Red Sox fan, but he does root for one of those teams from New York. He loves to watch great movies and TV shows with his wife, he’s always on the hunt for a good book to read, and loves to spend time with his family. Bike rides after everyone gets home from school and work are his favorite.
Interesting Tidbit – Joel spent part of his high school and early college years attending as many Phish and Grateful Dead shows as he could. While he doesn’t attend their concerts like he used to, and while his hair has gotten substantially shorter since then, he still loves their music.
