Regathering Update for August 2021

Dear Friends,

It’s a classic good news – bad news scenario.

The bad news?  You know its name–Delta–the Covid variant causing a significant spike in cases throughout our nation and, now, Baltimore County.  Our area has once again reached or crossed metric markers (percent positivity; cases per 100,000 people) that indicate our area is experiencing “substantial/accelerated” virus transmission.

Accordingly, Session has approved the Regathering Task Force’s recommendation that all people wear masks when inside TPC’s facility for the next four weeks.  Session will meet again on Sept. 8 to review the matter.

Please also note this is not a return to a previous phase in our Regathering Plan.  The whole of Towson Presbyterian Church’s facility remains open for use for indoor worship, small groups, meetings, and more.

Now, here’s what I think is really good news:

TPC is preparing for a phenomenal new year of FULL programmatic ministry this fall.  Church school will be offered both in-person and virtually.  Youth group will return in full.  Choirs will be gathering.  Mission will be taking off in new directions.  A rich slate of small groups and adult spiritual formation offerings will soon reveal more diverse offerings and accessibility than ever before.  Property work abounds (including sanctuary HVAC improvements, roof work, cement and mortar work, and more).  And that’s far from all!

Please be sure to join us in-person or virtually on Homecoming Sunday, Sept. 12.  At Homecoming, we will begin unveiling some exciting new beginnings amid exciting pursuits of the Spirit!  Then, we hope you’ll join us outside for a catered BBQ feast as we welcome back the 3-D Joel!

Peace,
Rob
